iCubate receives Frost & Sullivan North American New Product Innovation Award

Huntsville, Ala. -iCubate, Incorporated, a privately held molecular diagnostic company, has won the Frost and Sullivan 2012 North American Product Innovation Award in PCR Technology.

“We are honored to be recognized by Frost and Sullivan for this prestigious award,” said Carter Wells, iCubate’s chief executive officer. “iCubate will bring a comprehensive, personalized diagnostic tool to the market for health care providers who seek to provide personalized treatments for patients.”

The iCubate System is designed to provide accurate, rapid detection of multiple pathogens in a disposable cassette. Debuting as a research-only platform, iCubate is pursuing FDA clearance for its platform and assays.

Jian Han, MD., Ph.D., founder and chief scientific officer said, “iCubate’s proprietary PCR technology allows for the detection of dozens of targets simultaneously in one test. The possibilities are endless with the iCubate System. From human health to agriculture, our system puts multiple PCR into the hands of people all over the world.”

“PCR is a well-established and entrenched technology deemed a ‘gold standard’ for its class,” said Frost & Sullivan senior industry analyst Christi Bird. “It takes an ambitious company to reinvent it, and iCubate took the challenge. Intelligently designing its technology to resolve unmet needs, iCubate developed the new version of a ‘gold standard’ PCR instrument; one with the ability to perform sample extraction, amplification, and detection, all in a multiplexed, automated, and closed system.”

“This award is a testament to the dedicated group of individuals working at iCubate,” said Wells. “They are making diagnostic tools that will provide more answers to physicians, faster and with greater accuracy than currently available in today’s market.”

iCubate leadership will receive the award in July at the Frost and Sullivan Excellence in Best Practices Awards Banquet in Boston. iCubate founder and CSO Dr. Jian Han’s previous company, Genaco Biomedical Products Inc., previously received Frost and Sullivan’s “Technology Innovation and Leadership Award” in 2006. Genaco was later acquired by Qiagen.
